A: Inexpensive vibrating structure gyroscopes manufactured with MEMS technology have become widely available. Q: What do gyroscopes measure?

A: Gyroscopes are a means for providing a stable reference axis. This axis is the axis about which they are spinning. Q: How does gyroscope work?

A: It works on the principle of conservation of angular momentum, and consists of a spinning wheel supported on an axis that is free to move on its own. By using two gimbals at a time, one mounted inside the other, the gyroscope gives the rotor three degrees of rotational freedom.
