Brief Introduction

VG3000 high shock resistant vertical gyro combines highly-reliable MEMS gyros and accelerometers with high-speed DSP electronics to provide a fully stabilized vertical gyroscope in a compact and rugged environmentally-sealed enclosure. The VG3000 provides consistent performance in challenging operating environments that have massive vibration and high shock with wide frequency, VG3000 can output attitude data stably even when the sensor is under 6g/10~2000Hz random vibration or 20g/11ms shock.

VG3000 can be expanded with GPS and magnetic sensor to become GNSS/INS integrated navigation system. it can access to external signals including differential GPS, magnetic sensor, etc., and it has expanded kalman attitude fusion algorithms, and can output more accuracy yaw, pitch, roll data at real time, which assure the stability control for the aircraft, which is specially designed for industrial oil powered unmanned aircraft, helicopter, high speed target drone, etc.

Vertical gyroscopes are very commonly used in modern aircraft to accurately measure the attitude angle of the aircraft and output an electrical signal proportional to the attitude angle, which is provided to the computer and eventually displayed on the instrument. In order to measure and output the attitude signal of the aircraft, pitch synchronizer and tilt synchronizer are installed on the vertical gyroscope to output the pitch angle and tilt angle electrical signals respectively. And in order to reduce the longitudinal acceleration error, the vertical gyroscope is installed with pitch upright and horizontal correction disconnect gates to cut off the pitch correction of the gyroscope when there is longitudinal acceleration; in order to reduce the hover error, the vertical gyroscope is installed with tilt upright and horizontal correction disconnect gates to cut off the tilt correction of the gyroscope when hovering.

Q: What is the difference between the static inclinometers and dynamic inclinometers?

A: The static inclinometers are equipped with a 2D MEMS accelerometer serving as a sensor cell. This type of inclinometer allows high precision to be achieved in a static system, or when the machine only performs slow movements.

And the dynamic inclinometers (also called as vertical gyros) are equipped with a 3D MEMS accelerometer and a 3D MEMS gyroscope. An intelligent algorithm combines the signals from the accelerometer and the gyroscope to eliminate the effect of accelerations (e.g. due to rapid movement of equipment), vibrations and shocks.

VG100 vertical gyros belong to dynamic inclinometers, which can provide high accuracy tilt angle in harsh operating environments of high shock, acceleration, and vibration.

Q: What is Vertical Reference Gyro?

A: Vertical Gyroscope provides 3-axis angular rate, 3-axis acceleration and attitude output, it is used to stabilize or control ships and submersibles, to instrument automobiles, to stabilize antennas and many other applications. This vertical reference is especially suited for applications where there is limited bank and elevation such as ships, underwater vehicles, land vehicles, and camera stabilization. This is because the vertical reference uses a linear coordinate system.
