A: MEMS stands for micro electro mechanical system and applies to any sensor manufactured using microelectronic fabrication techniques. When coupled with microelectronic circuits, MEMS sensors can be used to measure physical parameters such as acceleration. There are two types of MEMS accelerometers: variable capacitive and piezoresistive.
